Under the supervision of the Chief Finance Officer, the incumbent is responsible for the daily operations of the Accounts Unit, ensures accurate and complete accounting is maintained, the relevant records are reconciled and the internal control system is functioning. The duties include review and approval of the financial statements and its related schedules and footnotes. Provides authoritative advice and guidance regarding the United Nations' financial regulations, rules, policies, and procedures. Acts as approving officer for the recording of obligations and other entries in the accounting system. Analyses and monitors the status of allotments, obligations, expenditures, accounts receivable, accounts payables, and IOV. Provides support to substantive services on accounting matters. Drafts reply to the audit observations and recommends changes in the manual and automated accounting procedures related to the functional unit
