The position is located in the Macroeconomic Policy and Development Division. Under the general supervision of the Division Chief and the direct supervision of the Chief of Development Policy section, the incumbent will be responsible for following duties.
I. ECONOMIC AND POLICY ANALYSIS:
* Review and analyse medium to long-term macroeconomic trends, activities and policies in the countries of the region and their impact on inclusive development
* Review and analytically examine macroeconomic factors giving rise to poverty in the region, within the context of national development strategies and macroeconomic policies and targets set by Millennium Development Goals.
* Review and analyse policies and programmes of member countries in light of inclusive development to assist the member countries in formulating proactive policies.
* Drafts specified inputs for technical papers and analytical studies on selected global, regional, national or sector aspects of economic development.
* Assists in the organization and servicing of expert group meetings, seminars, etc. on macroeconomic policies and inclusive development issues.
* Prepares speeches and other inputs for presentations by senior staff.
II. INTERGOVERNMENTAL SUPPORT:
* Prepares inputs for reports to legislative bodies.
* Assists in the organization of panels, round tables etc. on macroeconomic policies and inclusive development issues for legislative processes.
III. TECHNICAL COOPERATION:
* Organizes meetings and workshops for national experts.
* Prepares documentation for technical cooperation programmes and projects.
* Prepare and implement extrabudgetary funded projects and organise meetings and workshops on problems and issues related to macroeconomic policies, financing for development and inclusive development
