POST NUMBER: UNA020-09042EL-L0007. This post is located at the Information and Communications Technology Unit (ICTU) of the ECLAC Subregional Office in Mexico. Under the supervision of the Chief of Information and Communications Technology Unit (ICTU), of the Section of Administration, the incumbent will be responsible for the following: 1. Act as administrator/adviser for all server, network and infrastructure-related security issues, review and adapt security rules as well as ensure compliance of all installations and users;
2. Participate in the implementation and administration of the Voice/Data Wide Area Network (WAN) infrastructure with a special focus on availability, integrity and security;
3. In cooperation with the members of the unit, administrate the Novell and Linux-based infrastructure for core services such as Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), and Sendmail as well as the security of Linux operating system itself;
4. Monitor and manage Internet bandwidth capacity and utilization (Capacity and Demand Management);
5. Ensure optimum proactive management of the ECLAC Local Area Network (LAN) and WAN infrastructures including numerous Cisco Networking devices as well as Checkpoint UTM-1 firewalls;
6. Cooperate with all Information and Communications Technology Section (ICTS) teams in Santiago as well as IT teams of other agencies to ensure all network infrastructure incidents and problems are clearly identified and resolved in a timely manner;
7. Independently develop enhancements to the network infrastructure to implement new technologies, improve on stability, speed, prepare for crisis and Business Continuity and disaster recovery management and support new requirements;

i) Professionalism: Shows ability to administrate the Networking and Communication infrastructure in the optimum level to ensure the smooth operations of the ICT infrastructure; Understands and is able to apply IT Service Management (ITSM) concepts as defined in best practice standards such as ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library)
